I know you are aware of the need for traffic to your Adsense sites if they are to prosper, but is just getting traffic enough? Read my experience about this:
I have one AdSense site I created early on in my Adsense career which gets fair traffic now but makes little money. Google analytics tells me that about 80% of the visitors remained on the home page less than 10 seconds. Maybe they navigated to one of its other 10 odd pages? I checked those too; they weren't getting much traffic at all. Since I was not getting many clicks, visitors were OBVIOUSLY clicking the BACK button and not the ads as they left the page in 10 seconds.I admit the site is not one of my proudest creations, but 10 seconds...or less?Of course this answered the question for me as to why there were few AdSense clicks even though there was decent traffic. I WAS driving traffic to the site with Google, Yahoo, and MSN; Google analytics showed me that. (By the way, I HIGHLY suggest you put Google analytics on your sites... it doesn't cost a thing and provides you a wealth of information you simply NEED to know!).
Yes, I had done well with SEO in getting traffic, but I neglected the human element for the site. Far too many people (me too in this case) create a site with the search engines in mind and forget that search engines DO NOT CLICK THE ADSENSE ADS! If your site is not compelling enough for a visitor to spend morethan 10 seconds on, they sure enough are not going to be clicking the ads! Your goal, when it comes to traffic, has to be two fold:
- First and foremost, you must drive traffic to the site. Notraffic - No clicks...pretty simple.
- Secondly, the content must be attractive enough for visitors tohang out for a while. Somehow, someway, you must capture their attention.
You must draw them in...give them what they came looking for when they searched for and found your site! (read that again!)If you perk them up with content they find helpful, interesting, orjust plain cool, you'll have them wanting more. THAT is when theywill click your ads! Search engine friendly sites attract traffic. Human friendly niche sites deposit money into your AdSense account! With AdSense Connection I go into great detail about how to find those perfect niches (and keywords) to build your AdSense sitesaround.
